About Neil

I am a Lutheran (ELCA) Pastor by vocation, poet and writer as a hobby and passion and a generally inquisitive person continually growing and learning. I am the Senior Pastor for Rejoice Lutheran in Frisco, Texas which allows me the freedom to explore my diverse interests while giving me both an outlet for my creativity and the resources to support it.

I consider myself fortunate to continue to live an interesting life. After growing up in San Antonio, Texas, I received my undergraduate degree in Civil Engineering at Texas A&M University while being a part of the Corps of Cadets and the Aggie Band. Upon graduation I was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army, primarily serving with the 2d Armored Cavalry Regiment. While serving in the army I felt a call into ministry, and after completing my time in the military I attended Wartburg Theological Seminary in Dubuque, Iowa. I have served congregations for the past sixteen years in Arkansas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Texas. I live in McKinney, Texas with my wife, two dogs and a ferret.

I started writing in 2012 on my blog, signoftherose.org, as an outlet to continue learning and growing and to explore a wide range of religious and secular topics. I’m overly ambitious and more than a bit geeky when it comes to a lot of things, but I enjoy the process of writing and the learning and amazement that goes with putting my thoughts onto paper.
